The GTV, with a top speed of 255km/h, is the fastest roadgoing Alfa Romeo produced. The wheels have a little difficulty transferring this power to the black stuff and torque steer can catch you out if you do not have a good grip on the wheel.

There are just two petrol engines available - the entry-level unit was initially a 2.0-litre twin spark unit with 150bhp but in July 2003 this was replaced by a more powerful 2.0-litre JTS engine with 165bhp which gave the GTV a 0-60mph time of 8.1 seconds.
